The West Texas Comic Con is this Saturday! I took off the last couple of weeks to finish doing my part getting the show organized. This illustration is something I did last night for what will be the cover of GO! magazine in the local newspaper Friday to promote the convention. (They’re also going to feature on of my strips!) If you’re in the area please come by and check out the show. Its going to be big and a lot of fun!!! Secondly… I want to apologize, my studio mate mentioned to me last night that many people probably didn’t catch my note on the last comic that I would be taking a couple weeks off to work on the show. (It was an awfully long page, lol) I will try to be more clear next time. I intend to only take breaks in between story arches. And not very long ones at that. Thank you everyone for visiting! My traffic last week was double what it was the week before and that’s saying a lot! I appreciate you stopping by!

Dreamgirl

Oooh… Mystery. Who is dreamgirl? What is wonderwut? How fast can a bulldog fly?! These are all questions I hope to play with in the next chapter of Super Zeroes!

This page was supposed to go up on Friday, but as you can see its longer than normal. Its actually two pages put together. I wasn’t able to get them both finished till tonight. I didn’t want to break up the action between two separate days and lose the impact of revealing Elysium as Dreamgirl. I hope it was worth the wait.

As I mentioned, this concludes the first chapter of Super Zeroes. I’ll be going back to the strip format for a while, at least until the story calls for something different. Full pages are exhausting. I am actually going to take the next week off from the strip to finish getting everything ready for the West Texas Comic-Con. I nearly lost my mind last week trying to pull all-nighters to do the strip along with everything that needs to be done to run this comic book convention. I’m thankful I have such an awesome partner helping to run the show. He’s really made this one happen.

Just a reminder, if you’re in Lubbock you should check out the comic book convention Saturday November 7th. Its only $4 to get in and we have lots of awesome guests in attendance. (Visit the website for more information) I will be premiering the first issue of Super Zeroes to sell. The book includes most of the strips that are up now, along with a few others and some extra special content. Books will be $5. I may actually have them for sale on this site around then also, if things go well.

I got another piece of Fanart this weekend! This time from an artist named Lindsay Gragowski! People seem to really love Wonderwut and Potato! It makes me happy to see everyone enjoying the story so much. If you have any fanart you want to send, I will be creating a Fanart section in the next couple of weeks.

That bulldog looks like he’s having fun, huh? Well, one more page to end the first chapter of Super Zeroes. I have a very busy week ahead next week. Getting down to the wire for the West Texas Comic-Con, two weeks away! I’m excited, but have a lot going on. We seem to have almost everything set for the show. Looks like we’re even doing TV commercials this time around! That was one of my biggest goals when I decided to start a convention in Lubbock. I remember how excited I was when I was 14 and saw a commercial during Saturday morning X-men for a Comic book convention when I lived in Houston. I was so freaking ecstatic that I begged my Mom to take me and my friend. I hope we get to do that for a lot of kids here.

Anyways, thanks for sticking with me folks on this strip! I hope you’re enjoying it. By the way, I got my first FANART this week! Its a drawing of Rosina done by Maggie Davidson. I guess I’ll need to create a fanart section to the site!

a time for wonder

Today’s strip introduces “Wonderwut” a dream creature. He’s probably my absolute favorite character… aside from all the other characters that are also my favorites. Looks like Potato has found a buddy. I’m still having fun drawing this grumpy old bulldog having fun. I imagine him woofing a little in the waking world and kicking as he dreams of all this flying. And Wonderwut, although, I can’t go too much into his story just yet, is one of the funniest characters I’ve ever created. I can’t wait to set that in motion. You’ll have to be patient though friends. These things take time. That’s the curse and blessing of this daily format. I get to tease you with awesomeness that you may not see for a while.

Podcast and Conventions

A PODCAST has been posted of a panel discussion I was on at STAPLE in March. I have only done a few panel discussions so far in my career, but they always seem to be very popular when I’m asked to be on them. After this panel I was amazed at how many people came up to me afterwords to tell my how much they enjoyed it. I am just glad I didn’t come off like a jackass. I even got a couple of good lines in, like “Being a comic book artist is like being a rock-star in slow motion” lol I forgot I said that.

My name is Will Terrell and I will be your webcomic artist today. Please be patient as I build this site and learn the ropes of this webstuff. I will try to do my best to entertain you in the mean time. They say that if you make a decision without taking action, its like you never actually made a decision at all. I think that was my favorite past time back in high school. But this aint high school, this is my passion, and to thank you fine folks for allowing me to share my passion with you, I promise you some action (hmm.. and maybe less accidental innuendo.) As I build up a bit of a buffer on my comic I will be bringing you sketches and concept art for my SuperZeroes story several times a week. And eventually a regular comic as well.

A little info on me, for anyone that cares, I have been making comics for more than a decade, and I’ve produced more than 40 books in that time. Some of them didn’t even suck. I’ve done comic books freelance for several companies, from Disney, Slave Labor Graphics, Microsoft and even Harvard. But I miss telling stories that make me happy, and I am ready to entertain fans with my own creation. I am thankful to you for being here, and I hope that you do actually find my work entertaining. I hope you’ll stick around.

One last thing, I really want to thank the Half-Pixel guys for their book and their webcomics weekly podcast. Its put a fire in spirit for doing comics that I haven’t felt since way back when I had no idea what I was doing. If you are thinking of doing your own comics, I highly encourage you to pick up this book and especially check out their podcasts.
