I spent WAY too much time on this strip. I don’t know WHAT I was thinking drawing a koi pond for a background. This is how much I love you guys.
By the way, if you’re ever in San Diego, you should definitely check out the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Balboa park. It’s gorgeous, and serene. One of my favorite places.
So… something is happening in this strip. I wonder what? Hmm.

The colors on the koi are gorgeous! The warm yellows outlined with cool pinks. Great light in this one.
Thank you Gabe!
Backgrounds. They take forever to draw, readers don’t really notice them, and they make all the difference in the world. Can you say ‘AAAGGGHH’?
Sandy! I just listened to that podcast interview with you last night. Good stuff. It was fun hearing about your process and how you go into doing crowbar benson. I didnt realized you did everything in Flash. That would totally make things easier to scale and reuse backgrounds.
Yeah, it drives me nuts when a strip doesnt at least have a hint at a background. I’d like to get to where i can really simplify bg shots so they’re quick and easy. Its like 3 in every 10 shots I do now. The rest are work.
Will you could print out that first frame, frame it and hang it on the wall! Spectacular work this time! I like how you’re building up the tension in these last few strips, the character work and poses are super. As for the backgrounds, Sandy is right, but I for one notice them, thanks for the great gift!
Thanks Mark! Thanks for chatting with me last night too. Nice to hear I’m not alone with this comics madness.
Anytime, Will. It’s quite a solitary business this comics makin’. Sharing with other creators is a blessing really.
