Potato always looks so grumpy doesn’t he? I had a dog once that always looked surly, every moment of the day, until it was time to eat. For some reason, the grumpiness is what made me love her. Perhaps that explains some of my friends as well. God loves the curmudgeon.

I’ve found that it’s the little Yip-Yip dogs that the girls my age like. They don’t really appreaciate the adorable nature of a Bull dog the way we do.
That’s what my studiomate said when I showed her this strip. I still think bulldogs are adorable. And that’s all that really matters. The truth is, Potato’s not all that much of a chick magnet. Johnny has a lot of misconceptions about “What girls like”. But that’s half the fun.
I will be sure to remind my wife and kids that “God loves the curmudgeon” those mornings after I stay up too late working on something creative or getting inspired….or just farting around. Oh yeah….so does Bob get his candy?
